What TUE is

TUE is the premium epoxy in the ResinTech range. It is formulated to cure clear and glossy, to be field-pigmented where a coloured coat is required, and to be used at anything from an 8 mil primer to a 250 mil controlled self-levelling build.

It is more resistant to UV than an ordinary epoxy and resists yellowing better than standard epoxy, but it is not a UV-stable aliphatic coating. Where a floor sees permanent, unprotected sunlight, the TDS calls for an HPP or CRU topcoat over it.

In ResinTech traffic coating systems, TUE is the optional premium reinforcement / build layer and may be substituted for CBE where a premium epoxy is preferred.

Packaging

ComponentSize
Part A (resin)10 L (2.6 US gal)
Part B (hardener)5 L (1.3 US gal)

Mix ratio: 2 : 1 by volume, Part A : Part B

Supported applications

  • Glossy epoxy floors in garages, service rooms, warehouses and commercial spaces
  • Decorative flake, quartz and clear broadcast systems
  • Premium epoxy base coat or top coat in ResinTech traffic coating assemblies
  • Interior wear coat where a harder, chemical-resistant epoxy surface is wanted
  • Exterior ramps, balconies and parkade decks — with an HPP or CRU topcoat for constant UV exposure
  • Showrooms, shops, wash bays and light industrial floors
  • Epoxy build coats, self-levelling layers and controlled professional casting

Role in ResinTech systems: Optional premium epoxy reinforcement / build layer in PTS, VTS and EWS systems; may be substituted for CBE. See the traffic coating systems.

If the surface is hard, glossy or outside the recoat window, sand or abrade, vacuum and clean before recoating. Large mixed volumes shorten pot life and generate heat.

Coverage figures under confirmation. Typical coverage for the top-coat and broadcast-receiver rows is withheld while the figures published in TDS-TUE-1.0 are confirmed with ResinTech: their basis (wet or dry film, volume solids) is not stated and they do not reconcile with the film-build ranges shown. The film-build ranges are unchanged. Confirm yield by mock-up.

Theoretical values per US gallon at 23 °C / 50 % RH. A 15 L kit is approximately 4.0 US gal. Actual coverage varies with profile, porosity, film build and method.

Application conditions

ConditionRequirement
Substrate temperature10–30 °C
Ambient temperature10–32 °C
Relative humidityMaximum 85 % recommended
Dew pointSubstrate at least 3 °C above dew point
Concrete moistureDry concrete; typical screening limit 4 % Tramex or 85 % RH by ASTM F2170
Concrete ageNormally 28 days unless the designer approves earlier work
Minimum concrete strength3,600 psi compressive; 220 psi tensile pull-off

Limitations

  • UV-resistant, not UV-stable: under prolonged unprotected UV it can amber or lose gloss. Topcoat with HPP or CRU for permanent exterior exposure.
  • Not a crack-bridging membrane; not for active cracks, moving joints or structural movement.
  • Not a waterproofing membrane or moisture-vapour mitigation system.
  • Deep pours (up to 2 in.) are for experienced installers only, with a mock-up and heat-control plan.
  • Do not apply to wet, frozen, contaminated, dusty or condensing substrates.
  • Cures glossy with a slight satin character. Where a mirror-like super high-gloss finish is required, ResinTech recommends CBE.
  • For severe chemical service, protect with a CRU topcoat.

Technical documents

Technical data sheet under revision. TDS-TUE-1.0 is temporarily withheld from download (2026-09-21) while its coverage table is confirmed with ResinTech — the published ft²/US gal figures do not reconcile with the stated film builds (source register C-COV-1). The original PDF is preserved unedited; a revised sheet is pending. Request the current sheet.

Documents are the current versions published by ResinTech at the time this page was last built. Safety Data Sheets cover both components where the product is two-part.

Questions and answers

Is TUE UV-stable?

No. TUE is a UV-resistant epoxy — it resists yellowing better than a standard epoxy — but it is not a UV-stable aliphatic system. For permanent unprotected UV exposure the TDS calls for an HPP or CRU topcoat over it.

What is the mix ratio and kit size?

2 : 1 by volume. A kit is Part A 10 L plus Part B 5 L, giving 15 L (about 4.0 US gal) of mixed material.

Can TUE be used as a self-levelling build coat?

Yes, at 40–250 mils in controlled pours by experienced installers. Mass and temperature must be controlled to limit exotherm.

How does TUE differ from CBE?

CBE is the high-bond standard epoxy (420 psi bond to concrete on the TDS) used as primer, bond coat and broadcast binder; TUE is the premium clear epoxy with better UV resistance and a glossy, slightly satin finish. TUE may be substituted for CBE in ResinTech traffic systems.
