The ResinTech coating data sheets share one set of substrate requirements, restated with small differences per product. This guide collects them so a specifier or applicator can check a slab against every product in the build at once. Where a product data sheet differs from the systems design guide, both are shown.
Concrete age and strength
| Requirement | TUE / CBE / HPP data sheets | Systems design guide |
|---|---|---|
| Concrete age | Normally 28 days unless the designer approves earlier work based on strength and dryness | At least 28 days in standard conditions |
| Compressive strength | 3,600 psi | ≥ 25 MPa (≈ 3,600 psi) |
| Tensile pull-off | 220 psi | ≥ 1.5 MPa (≈ 220 psi) |
The MPa and psi figures are the same requirement expressed in different units.
Moisture
- Dry concrete; the typical screening limit given on the TUE and CBE data sheets is 4 % by Tramex or 85 % RH by ASTM F2170. The HPP sheet says to verify moisture before coating; the design guide repeats the Tramex / F2170 figures.
- No ResinTech epoxy or polyaspartic is a moisture-vapour mitigation system. Do not apply to wet concrete, condensation or active water intrusion.
- FLEXCOAT-PU is also applied only to dry substrates; porous, marginal or moisture-risk substrates are primed with a ResinTech-approved primer first.
Temperature and humidity
| Condition | TUE / CBE / HPP | FLEXCOAT-PU |
|---|---|---|
| Substrate temperature | 10–30 °C | 5–35 °C |
| Ambient temperature | 10–32 °C | Dry, stable conditions |
| Relative humidity | Maximum 85 % recommended | — |
| Dew point | Substrate at least 3 °C above dew point | Substrate at least 3 °C above dew point |
| Rain-free window (exterior) | HPP: 6–12 h minimum moisture protection | Protect from rain and condensation before cure |
The HPP data sheet also warns against applying during a falling slab temperature, when outgassing can cause bubbles or pinholes.
Surface profile and preparation
- Thin coatings and primers: ICRI CSP 2–3 (grinding).
- Broadcast, traffic-duty and vehicular systems: ICRI CSP 3–4 (shot blasting, or diamond grinding / scarification as required).
- Concrete must be sound, clean and free of laitance, curing compounds, sealers, oil, grease and bond breakers. Vacuum until dust is removed from pores and profile. Acid etching is not accepted for professional work on the TUE data sheet.
- Cracks, spalls, joints and edges are repaired or detailed before coating; dynamic cracks and movement joints need separate detailing and functional joint sealant.
- Existing coatings are tested for adhesion and compatibility; soft, unknown or poorly bonded coatings are removed.
Hold points before proceeding
The design guide lists six quality-control hold points. Do not proceed unless the substrate profile has been verified, the moisture condition has been verified, coating thickness has been confirmed, broadcast acceptance has been established where appearance or texture is critical, recoat-window compliance has been confirmed, and a test patch or mock-up has been completed where conditions or finish expectations are uncertain.
Each product page on this site repeats the conditions from its own data sheet; the product TDS is the governing document for any conflict.
